In una cittadina da incubo al centro degli Stati Uniti d'America, Jim, la sua famiglia e il resto degli abitanti si sforzano di sopravvivere cercando una via d'uscita. La cosa è decisamente difficile perché la notte, ogni abitante deve assolutamente rinchiudersi in casa e chiudere le tende, delle terrificanti creature provenienti dalla foresta che circonda la cittadina, bussano per poter entrare e uccidere chiunque vi sia all'interno delle case.
