Po è un Panda che lavora come cameriere in un ristorante cinese. Nonostante la sua grande passione per il Kung fu, dal punto di vista fisico Po non è esattamente adatto all’arte del combattimento marziale. E questo è un problema, dal momento che un’antica profezia indica proprio lui come il “Prescelto” che dovrà affrontare e sconfiggere dei terribili nemici pronti a misurarsi con lui. A quel punto, un gruppo di maestri di arti marziali entreranno in azione e cercheranno di trasformare il panda ciccione e scansafatiche in un temibile Maestro Shaolin.
